Please make plans to attend the 2023 Normal Symposium on the History of Music Education. The symposium will be hosted by the NAfME History SRIG and will be held Wednesday, May 31 - Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Illinois St. University in Normal, IL. This will be an in-person symposium.

Normal Symposium on the History
of Music Education

Symposium:
This Symposium will include paper presentations, panel presentations,
and musical performances. Organizers welcome submissions on any topic related
to the history of music education. The symposium offers a friendly and
encouraging environment for experienced scholars, graduate students, and
emerging researchers alike.
Registration and Call for
Papers:
Registration information and the call for papers, presentations,
and performances will be sent out later in the fall.
Conference Hotel:
There will not be an official
conference hotel for the Normal Symposium. Instead, attendees will be
able to find accommodations that best fit their needs. There are two hotels
close to the Illinois St. campus (Bloomington-Normal Marriott Hotel and Hyatt
Place Bloomington/Normal). There are several other hotels a short drive from
the campus. Some of these include Courtyard by Marriott, Comfort Suites,
Holiday Inn Express, Candlewood Suites, Chateau Hotel, and Hampton Inn.
Parking:
Parking will be available on campus for those who need it.
Attendees may choose to pay by the hour or purchase a visitor permit for the

Airports and Transportation
to/from campus:
Central Illinois Regional Airport at Bloomington-Normal offers
service from Allegiant, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and Frontier
Airlines. Rental car options at the airport include Avis, Budget, Enterprise,
Hertz, and National. There are also public transportation options available via
the Connect-Transit bus service to any location in the city. More information
on transportation can be found at Airport Transportation. Additionally, both Chicago
airports are a two-hour car ride from the Illinois St. campus.
